Computer Vision Module

The computer vision module was designed to enable real-time package recognition and tracking. The goal was to simplify and automate the last leg of package delivery, enabling 24/7 autonomous operation.

Purpose & Application:

This module enables automated identification and tracking of customer packages as they are delivered or picked up. By combining machine vision with motion control, the system ensures high accuracy in a dynamic, high-traffic environment.

System Components:

  • Depth Sensor: Enables 3D tracking of package size and location

  • RGB Camera: Captures delivery process to aid in package identification

  • Laser Gimbal: Provides precision light guidance to simplify package pickup process

Mechanical Design Contributions:

  • Developed mechanical housing for compact integration of RGB camera, depth sensor, and laser gimbal

  • Designed for manufacturability and ease of assembly, considering thermal, optical, and wiring constraints

  • Collaborated closely with software and electrical teams to ensure mechanical interfaces supported computer vision algorithms and real-world use

  • Setup overseas production line and and oversaw line bring up and troubleshooting
