Package Pickup Clip
The package pickup clip is a tamper-detection device developed to simplify Buy Online, Pickup In Store (BOPIS) retail systems. Designed to be clipped onto customer parcels, the Package Pickup Clip plays a key role in automating and securing the in-store pickup process.
Purpose & Application:
The Package Pickup Clip integrates with a larger system to provide real-time parcel status and tracking during the final handoff of goods to customers. When clipped onto a package, the device helps ensure that the correct item is picked up, and that it remains untampered with until retrieval.
Sensors & Features:
Hall Effect Sensor: Detects unauthorized removal of the clip from the package by sensing movement at the pivot point
Contact Sensor: Detects tempering and acts as the charging port
BLE Communication: Integrates with platform to trigger alerts and updates in real time
Mechanical Engineering Contributions:
Designed compact, impact-resistant mechanical housing to enclose electronics and sensors
Worked closely with tooling designers to create over-molded parts with inserts
Executed DFM for scalable manufacturing of plastic housings
Worked closely with PCB designer to align sensor placements with mechanical assembly
Considered ergonomic and retail-handling constraints to ensure positive user interaction
